Four pathway sailors have been selected as PASS recipients for 2025, where they will be provided opportunities to access subsidised additional training and support through the Performance Academy programmes. We are proud to share that one of these sailors is Zineb Hariss!
What first sparked your passion for sailing, and how did you get started?
I was 12 years old when I was on the Optimist, amazed by the way the sail was switching, how the boat crashes in a smooth way along the waves.
What has been your most memorable experience on the water so far?
The day I did a 1 ranking overall in an international regatta.
How do you hope this scholarship will help you achieve your sailing goals?
It will give me the pillars that I need to complete my Olympic journey and achieve it in a professional way.
When you’re not sailing, what are some of your other hobbies or interests?
I usually read books, go cycling , discover new places , play piano and watch movies.
Who or what inspires you most in your sailing journey and why?
My idol is Marit Bouwmeester, she is an icon for me, the perfect Olympic sailor, my dream is to meet her and have the chance to give me sailing advice that will help me be like her one day!
If you could sail anywhere in the world, where would you go and why?
Australia would be my number one destination, because it’s well known for the quality of its water and its best athletes, so I could train with them…
What’s your go-to sailing snack or drink when you’re out on the water?
The protein bars (Chocolate and Raspberry) are my favourite after a good session.
If you could have any sailing-related superpower, what would it be?
The sailing power I would like to have is to not capsize even if it’s the windiest day ever with my little weight.
