Seven international sailors were joined by Performance Academy Head Coach Charlie Linsell, for the German Europa Cup 2025.
Taking place in Warnemünde as part of Warnemünde Woche, a very competitive ILCA 6 fleet that included Olympic sailors saw difficult varying conditions. Some days provided big breeze and big sea state, however there was also lighter, shiftier days with rain clouds causing pressure, that led to strategical sailing and long days on the water.
The international team of seven sailors included representatives from Germany, Ireland, Hungary and Great Britain.
The German Europa Cup proved to be a great training event in the buildup towards the upcoming ILCA 6 World Championships taking place in Los Angeles, with our sailors focusing on processes and looking to iron out key development areas in their sailing.
One of our sailors managed to progress to the gold fleet.
Charlie Linsell shared,
“It was a good event in tough conditions where the group worked really hard to develop, and all improved a lot throughout the week.
“I saw lots of improvement across the board that we hope to continue ahead of LA.”
The Performance Academy are looking to take part in more Europa cups and Tier 2 regattas, as they prove to be a useful resource to help sailors prepare for international events such as European and World Championships.
